LONG TIME LISA

Strayed into my life, shadow of a ghost
hardly ever saw her, corner of my eye
half missed, half noticed, half anything at most
never really saw her, went sliding right on by

Long tall Lisa
vision in a hallway, blinking of an eye
long missed Lisa
whisp of white smoke in a blinding bright sky

She said she had seen them, the ghosts I could feel
and I knew it was  true, there was no time for lies
for the short time she stayed it was all very real
there was so much of me in her slow sunset eyes

Long lost Lisa
the girl with my ghosts in her eyes
long gone Lisa
girl of the wide open skies

She left as she came, never said no good-byes
hardly ever saw me, corner of her eye
but I've been in the depths of her island grey eyes
oceans of time for me to drown in and die

Long time Lisa
the girl with the far away eyes
long distant Lisa
fairy tale coast lines and alien skies

I will find her again in some other lost life
some day I will see her, corner of my eye
ghost in the mirror, edge of a knife
or else she will once again slide right on by

Long lingering Lisa
girl wth the haunting grey eyes
long I'll be looking for Lisa
hunting for ghosts in deep autumn night skies

Long long ago Lisa
shadows and whispers and unspoken sighs
god, how I still long for Lisa
the girl with my fate in her eyes
